The game of Roulette is the ultimate game of chance. It has one objective. You guess which number will be the next to come up.

A Roulette table consists of a spinning wheel with many numbered slots, a small white ball and the betting layout. This allows bets to be placed on one or more numbers at a time.

When the wheel is spun in one direction, the ball is then propelled around the outer edge of the wheel on the opposite direction. The ball will eventually decrease in speed and fall toward the spinning wheel. There, it may bounce around until it lands in one of the numbered slots. When your bet is a hit, the casino will pay a variety of odds. These are based on the number of numbers that you covered with your bet.

The bets in Roulette fall into two categories. These are called Inside and Outside bets.

• Inside Bets- On an Inside Bet, the bets are chosen when you place the chips on the numbers in the number field, or you can place them on the lines between numbers. One single Inside Bet can cover from 1 to 6 numbers. There are different kinds of Inside bets. Here is a list of the options.

• Straight Bet- A Straight Bet covers only one number. These bets are to be placed directly on top of the number that you desire. This pays 35 to 1.

• Split Bet-When you cover two numbers, and place chips on the line between any two adjoining numbers. The Split Bet pays 17 to 1.

• Street Bet- The Street Bet means that you cover 3 numbers. You place chips at the head of a row. Some casinos may do this differently, depending on whether the bet is placed at the near or far end of the row. It's also possible to place other 3 number bets at the intersection with zeros. These will pay 11 to 1.

• Square Bet- The Square Bet will cover 4 numbers. You place your chips at the 4 corner intersection of 4 numbers. On a European style table, a 4-number bet can be made by playing the zero line. These type of bets pay 8 to 1.

• Natural- This is when the first two cards total 8 or 9. The Banker and the Player stand and take no more cards.

• 5 Number Bet- A 5 Number bet can only be played on American table. You place chips at the head of the line between the zeros and 1 to 3 street. This bet will pay 6 to 1.

• Double Street Bet- The Double Street Bet will cover 6 numbers. You place chips at the head of the line between two rows. This bet pays 5 to 1.

• Outside Bets- The Outside Bets include groups of 12 to 18 numbers.

• Dozen Bet- The Dozen Bet will cover 12 numbers. You place chips on the 1st for 1-12, the 2nd for 13-24, or the 3rd for the 25-36 dozen areas. These will pay 2 to1.

• Column Bet- The Column Bet will cover 12 numbers. You place chips on the 2 to 1 areas at the far side of the layout on the table.

• Even Money Bets- With an Even Money Bet, you cover 18 numbers by placing your chips on either the 1 through 18, the 19 through 36, Red, Black, Even, or Odd areas.
